Selling Your Horse Just Got Easier!

Yes, you can sell your horse online, at your barn, or through an auction, but finding the right buyer at Equine Affaire just might be quicker, easier, and more profitable. What could be a better venue at which to sell a horse than a centrally-located and well-established equine facility like the Ohio Expo Center and a first-class equestrian event like Equine Affaire?

Tens of thousands of avid horse people representing all corners of the equestrian world will travel to Columbus to attend Equine Affaire, and many of these attendees will be in the market for a new horse. To bring horse buyers and sellers together, Equine Affaire has introduced a new element to the event’s popular Horse & Farm Exhibits: “For Sale” stalls.

Located in the newly-renovated Gilligan Complex, the Horse & Farm Exhibits is an area dedicated to the promotion of horse farms, training facilities, lesson facilities, breeding stallions, and now horses for sale. The Horse & Farm Exhibits will be featured in the east bank of permanent stalls in the north half of the Gilligan Complex the area that receives the best traffic flow because of its proximity to the clinic venues, trade show, and other important features of Equine Affaire. Horse & Farm exhibitors and For Sale stalls will be organized in the barn by breed/type of horse, and a map of the Gilligan Complex and Horse & Farm Exhibits will be included in the event program that is distributed for free to adult attendees as they enter the show.

HOW DO YOU SELL A HORSE AT EQUINE AFFAIRE? IT’S PRETTY EASY.

  • A 10 x 10 inline “For Sale” stall in the Horse & Farms Exhibits area is just $160 for the four days of the show. Click here for an Application & Contract.
  • The rental of a “For Sale” stall includes one “For Sale” sign to post on the stall and a free listing pre-event on equineaffaire.com that will include the horse’s breed, age, gender, name, discipline, price, photo, and stall location. You will provide your horse’s information on your stall registration form.
  • Though your horse will get maximum exposure if you attend Equine Affaire all four days, you and your horse do not have to be at the show every day. However, you must commit to exhibiting for at least two days and specify in advance your date of arrival to be able to rent a “For Sale” stall. (If you sell your horse, you may show another horse for sale in the vacated stall or leave at your discretion.)
  • You will be able to give interested customers (age 18 and over) the opportunity to test ride your sale horse in the Ohio Expo Center’s Denny Hales Pavilion as long as you have each customer first complete and sign a Waiver & Release of Liability form and you submit the form to the Barn Office. (Forms will be provided by Equine Affaire.)
  • You may keep your belongings in your horse trailer during the event or rent a tack stall next to your “For Sale” stall(s) for an additional $110. In order to maintain the appearance of the exhibit area, bedding, tack, feed, and other equipment may not be stored in the stall aisles.
  • You or someone authorized by you must supervise your horse during Equine Affaire show hours (9:007:00 on Thurs-Sat and 9:005:00 on Sunday).

SELLING YOUR HORSE AT EQUINE AFFAIRE JUST MAKES SENSE . . . AND THE HORSE & FARM EXHIBITS AREA IS DESTINED TO BECOME THE REGION’S FOREMOST MARKETPLACE FOR HORSES OF ALL BREEDS AND DISCIPLINES. HERE ARE A FEW MORE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • The rental of any “For Sale” stall does not include bedding. Straw, shavings, and hay will be available for purchase on site or you may bring your own.
  • A show veterinarian and farrier will provide services during Equine Affaire.
  • Horses brought to Equine Affaire from outside of the State of Ohio will be required to be accompanied by a negative test result for equine infectious anemia (Coggins Test) dated within one year of April 16 and a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (health papers) dated within 30 days of the date on which the horse arrives at the event. These documents must be presented upon arrival at Ohio Expo Center to the veterinarian who will be in the Barn Office during Equine Affaire.
  • Horse owners renting “For Sale” stalls are not required to carry liability insurance listing Equine Affaire as an additional insured. However, Equine Affaire encourages all horse owners and exhibitors to contact their insurance companies to arrange for appropriate insurance to cover the risks associated with presenting horses in public.
  • All owners (or owners’ agents) of horses participating in Equine Affaire will be required to complete release forms provided by Equine Affaire. Similarly, anyone who rides or drives a horse at Equine Affaire will be required to complete a release form.
