Kuchi

11-year-old Black and White Mare

Owned by
WR Ranch

Kuchi is a Gypsy Vanner mare. She is black and white and is 11 years old.

What is quite interesting about Kuchi is that she was the first born Gypsy Vanner in the United States. Her sire, Gypsy Gold's fabulous The Gypsy King, imported in 1998, was one of the first sixteen Vanners to come to this country. He is trained in dressage and known to Breyer® enthusiasts because of his best selling model. Her dam was the famous Bat, who, in 1996, became one of the first two Vanners ever imported to the U.S. Bat, sadly, is deceased, and Kuchi, as her only foal, is the sole source of this famous bloodline. Kuchi and her descendants will forever occupy an important place in the history of the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society.

Kuchi is a two-time Grand Champion Halter mare and High Point Performance horse at Feathered Horse Classic. She is currently in second level dressage training and has achieved Five Star Recognition and Gold Medallion of Quality status with the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society's Evaluation program.

She had a Breyer® model of her likeness unveiled at BreyerFest this past summer.

Lonesome

15-year-old Black Mustang Gelding

Owned by
the 3rd Army Caisson Platoon
Lonesome is a Mustang gelding who was born at a Bureau od Land Management holding facility in Butte, MT. After being adopted, Lonesome was a trail and pack horse for a few years. After hearing that the Army was looking for large black mustangs for their Caisson Platoon, his owner donated him to them.

Lonesome serves both as a near and off horse in the lead and swing positions in the 3rd Army’s Caisson Platoon. A near horse is the horse on the left that is ridden and the off horse is the horse on the left. The lead horses are the front pair of horses while in draft, and the swing team is the middle team. Lonesome, the stunning black mustang of the Caisson Platoon, has participated in over 500 funerals as well as the funeral for former President Ronald W. Reagan, and the 55th Inaugural Parade.

Lonesome has turned out to be a wonderful ambassador for the BLM’s Wild Horse and Burro Program as well as a beautiful, well-trained and loved member of the Third Army’s Caisson Platoon.

For more information about Lonesome, visit his Web page.
