The 12th annual Equine Affaire in the Northeast drew tens of thousands of horsepeople that enjoyed a world-class educational program and extensive trade show as well as an entertaining and informative competition.

2010 EVENT DATES: Equine Affaire will return to the Eastern States Exposition in W. Springfield, MA, November 11–14, 2010. Advance tickets will go on sale in mid-July of 2010.
Equine Affaire's signature equine musical review, the Pfizer Fantasia, took place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8:00pm in the coliseum and featured a star-studded lineup of professional equestrian performers and exceptional horses choreographed to a wide variety of musical styles. This year's show boasted a special complement of acts ranging from the dramatic to comedic...from a grand prix freestyle dressage ride to a first-class jousting competition and garrocha experts Christine Drentwett and Shane Karson, plenty of high-stepping gaited horses, drafts, donkeys, a longhorn steer, a "drunk" horse, a few talented motorcycles, and many more acts. Tickets ranged in price from $12 to $24 (plus a $2.75 shipping/handling/selection fee per ticket). Advance tickets for the Pfizer Fantasia were available for purchase online and by calling Equine Affaire through November 10th. (Tickets for orders placed by October 28th were sent through the mail; tickets for orders placed from October 29th to November 10th were available for pick up on a will-call basis at the Information Booth at Equine Affaire or at the coliseum box office each evening of the event. Any tickets for this popular event rhar were not sold in advance were available for purchase in the Better Living Center at Equine Affaire beginning at 9:00am on
Thursday,
November 12th.
The 2009 Equine Affaire in Massachusetts featured more than 60 in-depth clinics conducted by many of the nation's foremost trainers, coaches, and competitors in three separate clinic arenas. More than 65 seminars and demonstrations were offered in the Seminar Stage and Demo Ring to cover subjects as wide-ranging as natural and alternative therapies, stable management, nutrition, and first aid techniques. Many clinicians at Equine Affaire acceptwd horses and/or riders to participate in their clinics through the Ride With The Best program.
2009 Roster of Outstanding Presenters
The Versatile Horse & Rider Competition was a timed and judged race through a challenging obstacle course designed to test communication between horse and rider as well as each competitor's horsemanship skills. The competition was open to adult riders of all disciplines and horses of all breeds. Ken McNabb judged the contest, and Tommy Garland served as the special guest commentator for this year's competition as participants compete for $5,500 dollars in cash and other valuable prizes.
Equine Affaire hosted the largest equine-related trade show in the East! Attendees explored five buildings totaling acres of exhibit space featuring a full range of products and services.
The Breed Pavilion showcased dozens of breeds of horses from North and South America, Europe, and beyond. The Horse & Farm Exhibits area in C-Barn featured a vast number of stallions, horse breeding farms, and training facilities.
The Arabian Horse Association Youth Pavilion was a special place for horse-crazy kids of all ages. Horsepeople enjoyed the educational and horse-related exhibits, presentations by many of today's most popular educators, demonstrations by various horse breeds, a Celebrity Horse Showcase, and plenty of fun activities for kids!
Equine Affaire is an American Riding Instructors Association (ARIA) test center. Testing was held on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the Eastern States Exposition. The World Championship Blacksmiths Regional Competition IV was held in conjunction with Equine Affaire. A judge's clinic took place on Thursday, forging go-rounds were featured on Thursday and Friday, and
live shoeing go-rounds were held on Saturday.
